Gilbert, AZ - June 23, 2017 - American Equus, crafters of innovative, American-made stirrups and spurs, have chosen accomplished Dressage professional Katie Tharp as the newest addition to the team of illustrious chosen riders. American Equus is excited to align their brand with a talented, young dressage professional who has ridden and worked for some of the top dressage athletes in the world and is busy establishing a successful professional reputation.
"I am extremely proud to have been selected as a Chosen Rider for American Equus," said Tharp. "Aside from the sleek and colorful designs of their equipment, the quality is unsurpassed. I ride in the American Equus Slim Stirrups in chrome and crimson. The light weight and the slender design are perfect for dressage and the traction pins offer an unsurpassed grip that doesn't wear and slip as easily as other stirrup pads. The best part is that all parts are interchangeable and can be customized to your liking."
Proudly made in Gilbert, Arizona from lightweight and durable aluminum alloy, American Equus stirrups and spurs combine technical mastery with superior craftsmanship. Completely customizable, with hand polished finishes, American Equus products are the perfect mixture of equestrian tradition and 21st century production technology, design and function. The company designs and manufactures equipment suitable for all equestrian disciplines including hunter/jumper, dressage, polo, western and racing. Founded in 2015, American Equus distinguishes itself as the only company to produce stirrups and spurs completely in the United States.
"Katie is exactly the kind of hardworking and professional rider that we love to support," said David Shano, Founder and President of American Equus. "We look forward to seeing Katie achieve excellent results during the summer show season."
Tharp operates Katie E. Tharp Dressage out of her own Runnymede Farm in Folsom, Louisiana. Tharp offers training for both horse and rider from beginner level to Grand Prix. After studying under US Olympian Steffen Peters, Tharp inherited her family's farm and transformed it into a top-notch training facility, using her experience as an advanced young rider.
In addition to training with Peters, Tharp has had the opportunity to work and study with many national and world-class trainers including Conrad Schumacher, Volker Brommann, Lynda Alicki, and Heather Blitz. Tharp has competed successfully in NAJYRC Region 9 and was chosen to represent the United States in the CDI 3* in Sydney, Australia. A USDF Silver and Bronze medalist, Tharp is currently competing on Freyja of Riverview, a Friesian mare whom she plans to train into FEI levels.
